Recently, 115 customized high‑end coaches produced by Xiamen automakers were successfully loaded at the Modern Terminal in Xiamen’s Dongdu Port Area. These “Made in Xiamen” vehicles will sail along the Maritime Silk Road to Jeddah Port, Saudi Arabia. This shipment also marks the first batch of locally built coaches exported from Xiamen Port via bulk marine transport this year.

Bulk marine export refers to the mode of sea transportation where cargo is loaded directly into the holds or onto the decks of bulk carriers or special transport vessels, rather than in containers.Compared with traditional ro‑ro (roll‑on/roll‑off) shipping, this method offers lower transportation costs, more flexible route options, stronger batch adaptability and wider terminal compatibility, making it a common logistics solution for the overseas export of buses and coaches.

“In recent years, China’s vehicle exports have ranked first in the world. As an important export gateway, Xiamen Port has witnessed an increasing number of Chinese‑made vehicles setting sail for global markets,” said a representative of Xiamen Maritime Safety Administration in response to the growing export demand.

Going forward, the authority will deepen the application of the smart maritime supervision system, leverage its functional advantages, continuously optimize services, and fully support the steady “going global” of “Made in China” products, injecting strong impetus into the high‑quality joint development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
